Order of St. Andrew the Apostle the First-Called

The Order was established in 1698 by the Supreme Order of the Tsar and Autocrat of All Russia, Peter I.

The Order has one degree.

Signs of the Order:
- a silver eight-pointed star, in the center of which is a sign of the order and its motto. In special cases, according to the monarch's mercy, can be decorated with diamonds. It is worn on the left side of the chest.
- oblique X-shaped cross of blue enamel, superimposed on the black double-headed imperial eagle, the Latin letters S.A.P.R. are depicted on the tops of the oblique cross. (Saint Andrew the Patron of Russia). The sign of the order is worn on the shoulder band of a saturated blue color, through the right shoulder. In special cases, according to monarchy mercy, along with a star can be decorated with diamonds.

Grand Dukes of Russia in accordance with Article 157 Institutions on the Imperial Family receive the Order of St. Apostle Andrew the First-Called at the time of his holy baptism.
Princes of Imperial Blood of Russia in accordance with article 159 Institutions on the Imperial family receive the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called from the day of dynastic adulthood.
All the Knights of the Order of St. Andrew simultaneously become the Knights of all other Imperial Orders, except for the Order of St. Prince Vladimir and St. George the Victorious, who are state awards of the Russian Empire.

The motto of the order: "For faith and faithfulness."

The total number of people awarded from 1698 is about 1000 people.
