On October 1, 2021, the wedding of my second cousin Prince George Mikhailovich of Prussia, with Victoria (Rebecca) Bettarini took place in St. Petersburg. I would like to wish them personal happiness and family well-being.

At the same time, this ceremony is private and cannot in any way be considered as an event within the framework of the Russian Imperial House, the status and key Throne Succession issues of which are set out in the Fundamental Laws of the Russian Empire (FSLRE), approved by my August ancestors ― Russian Emperors. If we refer to the marriage alliance concluded in 1948 by the parents of Maria Vladimirovna Romanova ― my grand-uncle Grand Duke Vladimir Kirillovich of Russia (1917-1992) and Leonida Bagration of Mukhrani (1914-2010), which, while Grand Duke Vladimir Kirillovich was still alive, many experts in Russian dynastic law considered morganatic, this will only emphasize the private nature of the event.

The efforts made to discredit the monarchist idea are becoming more evident at present. After the communist model’s failure in practice and the deep crisis of the liberal model, those who like experimenting in search of another “bright future” clearly do not like monarchical statehood. Hence the desire and attempts to blacken our past by making up various historical myths about the reign of Emperor Nicholas II and my great-grandfather, Emperor Kirill Vladimirovich, who took responsibility and headed the Imperial House in exile.

The things that cause undisguised irritation and hostility in most people are put on display. Hosting luxurious events, including weddings, while a growing number of people are falling below the poverty line is a defamatory tactic, especially successful when the right people are found.

At the same time, those who are today competing in negative statements about Prince George Mikhailovich of Prussia and his wife Victoria (Rebecca) Bettarini only enhance the negative campaign against the very idea of monarchical statehood, while, as mentioned above, marriage is their private affair.
