ABOUT THE IMPERIAL HERALDRY

Imperial Heralds Office

The Imperial Heralds Office of the Heir of the Imperial Throne of the Russian Empire, His Highness Prince Imperial Blood Nikolay Kirillovich of Russia and Prince of Leiningen, is effective in accordance with His Supreme Will, in virtue of the Orders of His Highness, Prince Imperial Blood Nikolay Kirillovich of Russia and Prince of Leiningen, on appointment of the highest ranking officials of Imperial heralds office. In the course of its duties, the Imperial Heralds Office adheres to its interior Regulations, determining interior structure and competences of its officials.   

The Imperial Heralds Office performs the following duties:

- confirms noble heritage (gentlemanship) and issues relevant certificates for citizens of the Russian Federation and foreign citizens of the countries which formerly constituted parts of the Russian Empire;

- keeps the record of all Russian nobles having applied to the Imperial heralds office, after confirmation of their noble heritage, in form of a unified register;

- keeps the record of new Russian nobles, granted their titles since 1924 to the present date, incorporating them into the Family Register of Russian nobles;

- registers and keeps the record of coats of arms of noble families, both adopted in Russia and in the countries which formerly constituted parts of the Russian Empire;

- accepts applications for new noble titles and creates coats of arms for new Russian nobles, incorporating them into the Family Register of Russian nobles.
